Most locations will continue to be dry and foggy, according to GMet

Most of the nation is predicted to continue to have dry and cloudy weather, but at varied intensities.

Upper East, Upper West, North East, Northern, Savannah, Bono, Ahafo Bono East, Oti, and portions of Ashanti Region are expected to be impacted, according to the Ghana Meteorological Agency (GMet).

In the upcoming days, it's anticipated that the extreme southern cities, towns, and villages will have a respite from the dry and cloudy circumstances.

This will be brought on by a temporal reversal of the upper-level winds area, an intrusion of moisture from the sea, and other climatic characteristics, according to the 2022/2023 harmattan season advisory update released on January 23, 2023.

The announcement, penned by Ag. Director-General Eric Asuman, stated that "from now through February 2023, localised rainfall or thundery events are expected for the aforementioned locations."

The organisation also forecasts a rise in Ghana's daytime and nighttime temperatures.

The sun, which is currently in the southern hemisphere, is apparently moving northward toward the equator at a rate of around 19 degrees Celsius south latitude. The equinox in 2023 is predicted to occur on March 20, when the sun will be above and there will be 12 hours of daylight and 12 hours of darkness (also known as "Equal day and equal night"). It is anticipated that Ghana will see higher daytime and nighttime temperatures as a result of this astronomical event.

The organisation has warned the public to stay out of the sun's direct path between 11 am and 2 pm.

The general population is also urged to follow fire safety procedures scrupulously, especially for those living in the northern sector, and to drink enough of water to prevent dehydration.

The "appropriate period" is "undertake repair of unstable buildings and structures, desilt gutters and drains for smooth passage of runoff water."
