Liverpool have a relationship with England international Mason Mount, and reports suggest they could offer him a deal this month.

Last week, The Guardian revealed that the Reds are ready to move into the summer to sign the Three Lions attacking midfielder, who earns £75,000 a week for Chelsea.

Most recently, Spanish sources Nacional reported that Liverpool could make a firm offer to sign Mount in his January transfer window.

His 24-year-old star's current contract at Stamford Bridge expires in 2024 and so far the Blues have been unable to agree new terms with him.

Catalan media have claimed the Merseysiders could exploit a loophole in their contract and even terminate his service before the transfer window closes next week. Liverpool are set to face European champions Real Madrid in next month's UEFA Champions League, but at the moment the Reds are weak in midfield and attack.

Key attackers such as Firmino, Jota and Diaz have been sidelined with injuries, while the front-runner midfielder has been unwell this season.

In such a scenario, a flexible player like Mason Mount, who can play effectively in midfield and offense, would be a quality addition.

It must be remembered that the 2022 World Cup star scored a goal against Madrid (SF) in his 2021 CL season. In addition, he scored two goals directly against Los Blancos (QF) last season, ultimately winning the tournament. In the last two seasons, Liverpool have been eliminated in the quarter-finals and lost to Real Madrid in the final.
