Tottenham will be looking to continue their progress in the competition which represents their best shot at silverware this season when they take on Preston in the fourth round of the FA Cup.

That or the Champions League for Spurs if they are to end their trophy drought and while the trip to Preston has the potential to be a rough night, they will be imagining their chances of overcoming Championship opponents.

The win over Fulham last time out was a much-needed boost for Antonio Conte's side after a disastrous week and they will be looking to keep their spirits up ahead of the visit of Manchester City this weekend.

Preston beat Huddersfield in the third round to reach that stage and they have had a rocky season. They are 11th in the championship despite being just four points away from third place.

Date, start time, and location

Preston v Tottenham is scheduled for Saturday 28 January 2023 at 18:00 GMT.

The match will be held in Deepdale.

Team news Preston vs Tottenham

Liam Delap has joined Preston on loan but is playing in a cup while Troy Parrott is unable to play against his parent club.

For Tottenham, Arnaut Danjuma is struggling to make his debut for the club after being loaned out by Villarreal and leaving Everton in the dying minutes of the process.

Fraser Forster should start another goal for the FA Cup, with Japheth Tanganga and Pape Sarr also likely to join while Conte shuffles the pack.

Richarlison will be looking to make his first start since the World Cup while Harry Kane will be keen to overtake Jimmy Greaves for Tottenham's goalscoring record if he starts as expected.

Preston vs Tottenham prediction

While Tottenham has looked far from convincing at the back in recent weeks, Preston has not been particularly prolific in terms of scoring. Only Huddersfield and Cardiff have scored fewer goals in the Championship this season.

With confidence still low, any win will do the trick for the Spurs as they look to get their season off to a good start and another narrow win is doable.

Tottenham won 1-0.
