Court orders the two spouses of a late businessman to bury him in between the boundaries of their properties with reason being them fighting over who is to bury him.
A family consisting of two wives and 13 children has been ordered by a Kenyan court to bury the corpse of their late husband in between the boundaries of their two parcel of land to end the family dispute arising in the family.
The late businessman identified as Christopher Mbote, was to be laid to rest on Friday, the 27th of January 2023 before his second wife went to court to block the process. According accounts gathered online, the first wife had already dug and grave on her property for the deceased to be buried inside.
The matter which was taken to court and presided over by Chief magistrate Stella Atambo ordered that, the grave should be dug between the boundaries of the properties of the wives for easy access of the grave to both parties.
The second wife identified as Ann Njeri Mbote stated that, she went to court to stop the burial preparations because she was not involved in the funeral process of her husband whom she shared six children with.
In an account of the incident sighted on the page of Nigeria’s number one news platform lindaikejiblog official it reads;
"The Court orders that the deceased Christopher Mbote be buried on a parcel of land known as LR13537/101. That the place of burial shall be excised from the mother title and a separate
title thereof shall be issued in the joint names of the two wives, CM Atambo ordered.
Both wives, represented by their lawyers, agreed that the burial preparations will leave no party outside and that the deceased will be buried on February 3rd, 2023, as ordered by the court.
"We will do our best to make sure that these two families are at peace. We thank the judiciary for the mediation and we hope going forward, the family of Christopher will live together just
the way he wanted." Advocate Mungai Wainaina representing the second wife told Citizen Digital.
Mbote, who was 78 years old had 7 children with his first wife and 6 with his second wife giving him a total of 13 children. He died in a hospital in Nairobi Kenya.
