The food and drugs board authority suspends yellow sisi waakye over suspicion of poison as one person allegedly died from consuming the food.
Twitter was set ablaze and a particular waakye joint at Accra oyibi has poisoned its customers and people who consumed the waakye that particular day complained of severe complications and one person have also her life in the process and about 40 others hospitalized.
The news of the incident began going viral in the early hours of Wednesday the 25th of January 2023, with online users calling upon the food and drugs board authority to launch an investigation in to the matter. The Food And Drugs Board Authority (FDA) gave the people a listening ear and launched investigation into the incident closing down the popular food joint in the process.
In a new statement released by the Food And Drugs Board Authority, the revealed the commonest contributing factors that may have resulted in the incident. According its environmental assessment of food preservation, they revealed that,unhygienic practices and food handling may have contributed to the contamination of the food leading to the food borne disease outbreak.
Although this is the report according the Food And Drugs Board Authority, many concerned citizens and residents of the area disputed this factor and claimed it might have been either food poisoning or the used of spoilt groceries used in the preparation of the food since it is the cheapest.
