‘I DON’T UNDERSTAND’: PUNDIT CAN’T FATHOM WHY LIVERPOOL DIDN’T SIGN ARSENAL ACE
Former Liverpool defender Jose Enrique has questioned the club's decision to sign Cody Gakpo instead of Leandro Trossar.
Formerly at Brighton, Trossard joined Arsenal for a cheaper fee than Gakpo and made an immediate impact on the Gunners, appearing solid this week against two of England's best teams, Manchester City and Manchester United. showed performance.
Gakpo, meanwhile, has struggled to gain a foothold at Liverpool so far. PSV The Dutch winger, who joined from Eindhoven, has yet to score or assist for the Reds and at times looked bewildered.
Confused by the fact that Liverpool did not sign Trossard, Enrique explained that the Reds should have signed a Belgian who could be found cheaper than Gakpo. Trossard got off to a brilliant start at Arsenal and quickly established himself as a solid attacking option for the club, so it's understandable that Enrique would question the decision.
However, it's important to note that Gakpo is much younger than Trossard and has a lot more potential. He's still young and has time to adapt to the league and make a difference for Liverpool.
Let's not forget that Gakpo looked like a star at the World Cup.If he works for Liverpool, he'll be dangerous.
It is true that Trossard is off to a good start at Arsenal, but it is still early days and Gakpo has not lived up to his potential at Liverpool. It's important to give him time and not jump to conclusions about his performance.
It remains to be seen which deal is wiser, but Enrique has made it clear at Anfield that Trossard is better than Gakpo.
