Alejandro Garnacho delivers three-word verdict on Manchester United wonderkid Kobbie Mainoo
Kobbie Mainoo made his second appearance for United on Saturday when he came on as a substitute in a win over Reading.
Alejandro Garnacho is keen to congratulate Manchester United team-mate Kobbie Mainoo after the young midfielder made his second first-team appearance for the Red Devils.
Mainoo came on from the bench as Erik ten Hag's side won 3-1 over Reading in the FA Cup fourth round on Saturday night, with Casemiro (2) and Fred both scoring for the local team.
The 17-year-old - who made his United debut in the Carabao Cup win over Charlton Athletic earlier in the season - came on for Casemiro in the 73rd minute of the clash. Although only being introduced to the field in the later stages of the encounter, Mainoo was still able to show his quality against the Royals. Garnacho, who also came on from the bench on Saturday night, praised his countryman after the game - posting on Instagram to congratulate Mainoo on his impressive appearance.
"What a player," the Argentine wrote, along with a cheering emoji.
Mainoo has two goals and two assists in 11 Premier League appearances this season, and was also a first-team target in a friendly against Cadiz in winter training camp. He became the second potential academy player to be promoted to senior football under Ten Hag, with striker Charlie McNeill coming on from the bench in the Europa League loss to Real Sociedad.
Meanwhile, Garnacho has scored two goals and five assists for the first team this season, including a crucial goal against Fulham in the Premier League ahead of the World Cup. Both players, who were part of last season's FA Youth Cup winners, will be keen to feature in the Carabao Cup semi-final second leg against Nottingham Forest on Wednesday night.
