Argentina captain Lionel Messi admitted his emotions ran high as he got involved in a heated argument with Manchester United striker Wout Weghorst at the World Cup.

Weghorst threatened to spoil their World Cup duty in the quarter-finals when he was called on from the Dutch bench to score twice in a closely contested match. Argentina rallied to win this match and performance on penalties.
However, after referee Antonio Mateu Lahoz showed 14 yellow cards and even sent off Dutch player Denzel Dumfries at the final whistle, it wasn't over as Messi fought a TV camera battle with United in the form of a giver. Borrow Weghorst, 30, to learn about the weight of a temper flare.

"When there is tension, friction, confusion, when the game becomes like that, the referee always has a fever. He was in the melee area and the game just ended. Well, now I know it all."
