Graham Potter has a selection puzzle to solve after Chelsea spent £323.5m in January with a bloated squad to keep happy and UEFA rules to adhere to, with TWO starting XI very strong that you can name

Chelsea made eight great signings in the January transfer window

The signing of Enzo Fernandez has taken Chelsea's January spending to over £323m

Champions League regulations will see Graham Potter change his squad

Todd Boehly has once again shown that he is not afraid to run out of money as he continues to spend lavishly since taking over at Chelsea.

The Blues continued their summer signings by bringing in eight new players in January - and British record signing Enzo Fernandez brought their spending for the month to a staggering £323.5million. .

Although Graham Potter is delighted with the new signings, which include Fernandez, Mykhailo Mudryk, Benoit Badiashile and Joao Felix, it is hard to imagine how they will all fit in at Stamford Bridge.

Potter was faced with a squad dilemma in the Champions League with UEFA rules stipulating that only three players could be registered for the knockout stages.

Potter's strongest lineup

Champions League rules stipulate that from Chelsea's final draw with Borussia Dortmund, they can only sign up to three new eligible players for the remaining matches.

This means Potter will be forced to eliminate one of Fernandez, Felix, Mudryk and Badiashile - the latter is likely to be the one to miss.

After breaking the UK transfer record to sign Enzo Fernandez, there is no doubt the World Cup winner will become the center of Chelsea's midfield.

Potter can deploy Fernandez in any of the three midfield positions. As for Benfica, he tends to play on the left, while he started in the middle in Argentina's World Cup final win over France in Qatar. A full squad would see Fernandez link up alongside N'Golo Kante and Mason Mount, with Jorginho now out of sight after moving to London rivals Arsenal on the final day.

At the back of midfield, Potter will certainly stay with the talisman Thiago Silva - who will likely be paired with a perfectly healthy Wesley Fofana.

Two strong defenders are sure to be flanked by England internationals Ben Chilwell and Reece James - both set to return to action. Kepa is a strong candidate to continue scoring after snatching the No. 1 role from Edouard Mendy.

At the other end of the pitch, Potter will likely feel compelled to use another new signing at Mykhailo Mudryk. The Ukraine international has made one short appearance since his £88m move from Shakhtar Donetsk but that's enough to show his ability.

In fact, the 22-year-old became the fastest Premier League player of the season after playing just 35 minutes in England.

Mudryk is likely to come on from the left and could pair up with the regular Kai Havertz in the middle and another addition - albeit on loan - Joao Felix from the right.

Potter replaces XI

Recruiting from Chelsea has given Graham Potter a second-best squad at his disposal.

Having Edouard Mendy as a replacement is not a big obstacle, although the Senegal goalkeeper
