Chelsea is currently the most despised football team in Europe. Chelsea paid a club record fee of £97.5 million to sign Romelu Lukaku from Inter Milan two summers ago.
Following a poor season, the West London club loaned him to Inter Milan. Chelsea signed Timo Werner from RB Leipzig in 2020. Chelsea sold him to Rb Leipzig after two seasons of inconsistency.
Despite the losses, Chelsea has continued to invest in the squad by signing new players last summer, but the club has outdone itself and the rest of Europe with their spending this winter.
Chelsea spent around €329 million on new players during the recently concluded Winter transfer window. The Blues signed Enzo Fernandez for a Premier League record fee from Benfica.
They signed Joao Felix to an expensive loan deal. They snatched Mykhaylo Mudryk from Arsenal. Benoit Badiashile, David Datro Fofana, Andrey Santos, Malo Gusto, and Noni Madueke are the other players who joined Chelsea in January, bringing the Blues' total spending in January to €329 million.
The rest of Europe's top leagues, including the German Bundesliga, Italian Serie A, Spanish La Liga, and French Ligue 1, spent only €246 million in January.

Former Man United youngster Tahith Chong has opened up about the development of Kobbie Mainoo, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and United's title hopes.
Former Manchester United winger Tahith Chong has told midfielder Kobbie Mainoo he is one of the club's "best young players" after the youngster had just graduated from the first team.
The 17-year-old, born in nearby Stockport, won his United debut against Charlton Athletic in the Carabao Cup quarter-finals at Old Trafford last month. He was given a surprise start by coach Erik ten Hag, joining Scott McTominay and Fred in midfield against the League One team.
Mainoo, a versatile midfielder, equally capable of defending and attacking, also came on as a second-half substitute in Saturday night's 3-1 FA Cup fourth-round win over Reading. He seems to have surpassed compatriot Zidane Iqbal in the standings, although the latter has had a great pre-season this summer and shows promise.
However, Mainoo's quick rise to the first team should perhaps come as no surprise to Birmingham City winger Chong, who left United at the end of the summer transfer window to join the Blues on a permanent deal. The Dutchman sees the midfielder as an exciting talent and can't wait to see how his future unfolds.
"Kobbie Mainoo is one of United's best young players and he made his debut a few weeks ago," Chong told SkyBet. "He's a solid midfielder, very technically good - he's a player worth watching in the future."
Although Ten Hag, who has done well since taking over from Ralf Rangnick last summer, is intent on developing United's young players and making them regular first-team players in the future. , his current priority is to try to finish in the top 4 and deliver a trophy. The Red Devils currently have a Champions League spot and are still alive and kicking in three different cup competitions.
But despite the Carabao Cup or FA Cup being their biggest hope this season, Chong, who spent six years at Old Trafford, still believes the club can win the Premier League at the end of the season. .
He continued:
"In football, nothing is certain. In the Premier League, if you get a good result together in the last 10-15 matches, you can definitely fight for the championship. Nothing is impossible. - Manchester United have to keep winning and see where they end up."
Chong made 16 appearances during his United career, all of which were led by former manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. Several young players have been given first-team opportunities by the Norwegian during his tenure and Chong takes him very seriously.
"From a few months working with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, I've come to think he's a great manager," Birmingham's trump card added. "He's helped a lot of players, and when I was there he helped me with all my problems off the pitch - my experience with him has been fantastic."
