Celebrated Ghanaian rapper Michael Owusu Addo better known as Sarkodie has blown his horns in an interesting manner and fans can’t keep calm about it.
Sarkodie have been trending for over a week after his feature on the remix version of “Stir it up’ performed by the late and legendary reggae musician Bob Marley. After the project dropped, fans and other celebrities began adding their opinions to Sarkodie’s verse on the song with others throwing shades at him, example of such people were Ayisha modi, Shatta wale, Yaa Pono,Blakk Rasta, Mr logic and others.
With Ayisha modi going to extent of saying such music should have featured Shatta wale or stonebwoy because they are reggae artists and not Sarkodie. Blakk Rasta also criticized Sarkodie for being a one way artist and Mr.logic ended the conversation by saying there is nothing extraordinary about Satkodie’s verse on the remix.
Sarkodie speaking in an interview on CNN Africa, revealed that the collaboration with Bob Marley is one of his biggest achievement in his career.
“Definitely one of the biggest moments in my life. It’s not easy to be on a project like that, because we’re talking about Bob Marley. You know, that’s like…crazy,” he revealed.
He further went ahead to praise himself and blow his own horns by saying the way people relate Reggae to Bob Marley is how people see him when it’s about rap.
“People actually think Bob Marley invented reggae. Because when you think about reggae, that’s all you think about – Bob Marley. That’s the benchmark, or whatever… that the guys use. And that’s the same thing when it comes to rap with Sarkodie. Back in Ghana, every conversation, I’ve been drawn in for no reason. That’s like the person they use. That’s what I mean by in rap, I’m like Bob Marley,” he revealed.
He went on to add that, he never believed when the call for the feature came until the beat to the song was sent to his management, that was how he knew he had achieved something big.
“I remember when the call came through, I didn’t want to believe it until they sent the vocals. You know…Bob’s vocals. We had to use like two hours to just get the files out. These are his original vocals from way back so… yes, and I did it”, he told CNN Africa.
Sarkodie has achieved a lot with his rap career and few of such honorable mentions are winning the BET and MTV award. These two awards are one of the huge international awards an artist can ever win.
