SPANISH MEDIA CLAIM MAN CITY ‘CRISIS’ IS DOWN TO ONE PERSON WHO CREATED A ‘BAD ENVIRONMENT’
The image of the Spanish media said that Man City's 'crisis' was caused by someone creating a 'bad environment'
Manchester City are five points behind Arsenal in the Premier League title race, knocked out of the EFL Cup in the quarter-finals and don't seem to have a squad capable of challenging the Champions League, so Dani El Nacional's Serrano claims Pep Guardiola have in hand 'terrible goods'.
Serrano blamed the City manager for his problems this season, claiming that the "bad environment" has driven many talented players away - Oleksandr Zinchenko to Arsenal, Raheem Sterling to Chelsea and Gabriel Jesus went to Arsenal last summer. Joao Cancelo's surprise move to Bayern Munich was seen by Serrano as another example of a player trying to get away from Pep.
Man City lost 0-1 to Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday afternoon, giving Arsenal an opportunity to win 8 points on the table with 17 games left. City had the opportunity to close the gap to two points but now they have a huge task to catch up with Mikel Arteta's men. Guardiola has lost too many important players in the last two transfer windows and has not found a replacement for them with equal capacity. Staying with Kyle Walker, Rico Lewis and Sergio Gomez at the back isn't good enough for a team that wants a challenge on all fronts.
Bernardo Silva has not scored in the league since August and has not provided an assist since October. Phil Foden has not scored since November and has not assisted since October. Ilkay Gundogan has not scored since August and has not provided an assist since November. And Julian Alvarez has fired on Sunday for the 10th time in his last 12 league games, so City are on the decline.
