This season, Mikel Arteta has established himself as one of the best managers in the Premier League. He has been a standout performer for Arsenal since the start of the season, and he is expected to help the Gunners win their first Premier League title since 2004.

As manager, Arteta has helped Arsenal win one FA Cup and one Community Shield. Despite a 1-0 loss to Everton, his team is currently first in the league table this season.

He took over as manager of the club in 2019 after leaving Manchester City. Arteta worked alongside Pep Guardiola at City before leaving to take over at Emirates.

In his first season at Arsenal, he struggled to make an impact. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Alexandre Lacazette, Sokratis, Xhaka, and David Luiz were among the Arsenal players who took part in Arteta's first game in charge, a 1-1 draw against the Cherries.

Here is the starting lineup for Mikel Arteta's first game as Arsenal manager.

Pierre-Emerick Forwards include Aubameyang, Nelson, and Lacazette, while midfielders include Xhaka, Torreira, and Ozil. The defenders are Saka, David Luiz, Sokratis, and Maitland-Niles, and the goalkeeper is Leno.

OPINION: EMERSON ROYAL TURNS IN BEST TOTTENHAM DISPLAY YET AFTER TWO BIG CONTE DECISIONS

Tottenham Hotspur beat Manchester City 1-0 and Emerson Royal was arguably his best performance in a Spurs shirt.

Spurs fans may have felt a bit conflicted before the game against Pep Guardiola's side.

A win would bolster Tottenham's hopes of a top-four finish, but a loss would hamper Arsenal's bid to win the Premier League title.

There were few Tottenham fans displeased when Harry Kane scored, as he edged past Ederson from Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg's cross.

Tottenham played solidly in defence and still won 1-0 despite Cristian Romero's red card. Both north London teams will be delighted with the result - and one Tottenham player in particular will be delighted.

Emerson Royal shines in victory over Tottenham

Emerson Royal was heavily criticized during his time at Tottenham.

Signed at right-back in Nuno Espirito's 4-3-3 formation, Emerson switched to playing as a winger under Antonio Conte.

It was an awkward adjustment at the best of times when Emerson was trying to move forward; The less talk about his unseemly pass into the Sporting net, the better.

Emerson's form was ultimately the reason why Tottenham decided to buy Sporting winger Pedro Porro on final day. It is one of two important decisions by Conte that can help Emerson shine against Man City.

Signing a new wing in Porro posed a challenge for Emerson; step up or maybe end up on the bench more often than not.

According to The Athletic, Conte personally decided not to sell Emerson in January, but rather loaned Djed Spence and released Matt Doherty.

Conte showed great faith and Emerson came on for the game against City, producing a brilliant performance against Jack Grealish.

Emerson has six clearances, two interceptions, one tackle, one key pass and one successful dribble. Grealish has been excellent but he couldn't have played better than Emerson, who made a brilliant tackle in the second half to keep a clean sheet for Tottenham.

The Brazilian is full of energy on the right flank and also shows signs of pairing well with Dejan Kulusevski.

Porro is likely to take over at some point, but for now Emerson has taken Conte's faith and run with it, hoping to counter the Spaniard for some time to come.
