The Republic of Ghana has become the newest member state of the Digital Cooperation Organization (DCO), which has as its goal the realization of universal digital prosperity. The Republic of Ghana joins the DCO, an international group established to assist nations in developing their digital economies as a crucial component of long-term growth and development, as the organization's twelfth member.

The Republic of Ghana is recognized as a pioneer in harnessing the potential of digital and communications technology to promote economic progress. Ghana was one of the first nations in Africa to connect to the internet and roll out ADSL broadband services, as well as the first nation in sub-Saharan Africa to deploy a cellular mobile network in 1992.

With the second-highest data penetration rate and the fastest-growing mobile money market in sub-Saharan Africa, which has significantly increased financial inclusion, Ghana is a leader in digital payments and mobile money. Ghana will now bring that knowledge and expertise to the DCO as a new member to share with the other member states.

The announcement was made by H.E. Ursula Owusu-Ekuful, Minister of Communications and Digitalization, who stated: "Ghana shares the DCO's vision of using technology to create opportunities for economic diversity and growth and to empower our people, especially the youth, through digital and financial inclusion." We anticipate collaborating with our fellow DCO Member States and DCO Observers to collaborate in the areas of e-government, infrastructure, and entrepreneurship, share our expertise, and promote investment by member nations in Ghana

The DCO's Secretary-General, H.E. Deemah AlYahya, stated: "I am delighted to welcome the Republic of Ghana to the DCO. Ghana is one of the top African countries when it comes to implementing smart policies, like its Digital Finance Policy, that encourage new sectors of growth and have a great impact on the neighborhood. The DCO was established to promote information exchange and sharing for the benefit of all nations, and I think Ghana has a lot to teach the DCO and our global community of nations.

The DCO presently has 12 member states with a total GDP of over $1 trillion and focuses on digital economy programs assisting youth, startup entrepreneurs, and women. investment by member nations in Ghana
