The recent earthquake that struck Turkey has brought with it not only destruction and loss of life, but also the disappearance of many individuals, including the Ghanaian international footballer, Christian Atsu.
Atsu, who plays as a winger for Newcastle United in the English Premier League, was visiting his family in Turkey when the earthquake struck. Despite initial reports indicating that he was safe, there has been no further information on his whereabouts.
Friends, family, and fans of the talented footballer have taken to social media to express their concerns and to spread the word about his disappearance. The hashtag #FindChristianAtsu has been trending, with many hoping that he will be found safe and sound.
The Ghana Football Association has also released a statement, expressing their deep concern about the situation and stating that they are working closely with the relevant authorities to try and locate the missing footballer.
The Turkish government has deployed a significant number of search and rescue teams to the affected areas, and they have been working around the clock to try and locate those who are missing. However, the challenging conditions caused by the earthquake have made the search effort difficult and slow-moving.
According to reports over 2000 people are confirmed dead as a result of the two powerful earthquakes that has struck in Turkey and Syria within the last 20 hours, The European Union have sent more than 10 search and rescue teams to assist the Turkish government in rescuing the people trapped in the rubble.
