Sergio Busquets is expected to be out of action or away from FC Barcelona for two to three weeks.
FC Barcelona have confirmed captain Sergio Busquets' injury has dealt a blow to Xavi Hernandez's side.
The captain was introduced to the Camp Nou at the start of the La Liga clash with Sevilla on Sunday night and limped off after Jordi Alba took the captain's armband.
Fortunately, Barca won 3-0 over the Andalusian side, with a goal and an assist from an excellent Alba putting them eight points ahead of rivals Real Madrid in the Western top flight. Spain.
Before the half-time whistle blew, multiple reports made by Cadena SER confirmed Busquets' team said the injury would keep the 2010 World Cup champion out of action for up to three weeks. "Examinations conducted this morning revealed that Sergio Busquets has sprained the lateral ligament in his left ankle," the statement read. "He's out and his recovery will determine his availability."
Although Busquets is only out for two weeks, it is still a setback for the Blaugrana as the Europa League qualifying first leg will take place at home against Premier PINC League giants Manchester United on February 16.
Busquets is also certain to miss a trip to Villarreal on Sunday as well as a home game against Cadiz on the 19th in La Liga while the second leg against United at Old Trafford on the 23rd.
It could disrupt Xavi's plans to pick a four-man midfielder, who has enjoyed plenty of success in recent weeks and is key to their domination in La Liga while the coach believes that their students can win every title they want. Against Sevilla, however, the impressive performance of Franck Kessie, who came on for Busquets and provided a superb assist for Jordi Alba's opener, roused the club's legend.
With the Ivorian on the field, he and Pedri seemed to take turns supporting Frenkie de Jong in a dual axis that the Dutchman says is where he feels most comfortable.
