Lionel Messi has scored the most goals for a single club in football history. Before leaving Barcelona about two years ago, the Paris Saint-Germain stars scored 672 goals for the club.


Cristiano Ronaldo, his arch-rival, comes in second. More than 800 goals have been scored by the Portuguese superstar in his career, with 450 of those coming during his time at Real Madrid, where he won numerous trophies, including back-to-back Champions League titles from 2016 to 2018. This makes him the club's all-time leading scorer in the Spanish La Liga.

Cristiano Ronaldo is followed by Robert Lewandowski, a former Bayern Munich star who left the German Bundesliga giants last summer. He scored 344 goals for the club and won numerous trophies during his time in the capital, including multiple German Bundesliga titles and the Champions League title.


Karim Benzema is the fourth player in the history of Europe's top five leagues to have scored the most goals for a single club. The Frenchman has 336 goals for Real Madrid so far, and he has the opportunity to surpass Lewandowski while still at Real Madrid. Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola commented in May 2022 that he would leave the club if found to have breached financial fair play laws. The Premier League club has been accused of breaching financial rules following a four-year investigation.



The club was referred to an independent committee for alleged rule violations between 2009 and 2018. City residents are also accused of not cooperating with the investigation, which began in December 2018. .


Guardiola has issued a clear statement on previous allegations that Manchester City have breached the FFP. He said last May (via Fraser Fletcher):



"If they lie to me, I'm not here the next day. I'll go out, and I won't be their friend anymore. I trust them because I trusted them 100% from day one, and I told defend the club because of that."

Guardiola joined Manchester City in 2016, so he stayed at the Etihad for two years during the possible period when the club breached the FFP. However, he has always strongly defended his club against such allegations.


Other alleged violations related to Roberto Mancini's time in charge of the team, demanding full details of manager's wages from 2009-10 to 2012-13 season and player wages from 2010- 11 to 2015-16. The penalty for Man City's alleged errors could be a point deduction or even expulsion from the Premier League.


Guardiola has won the Premier League 4 times, 1 FA Cup and 4 League Cups during his time in charge of the club. His contract at Etihad expires in 2025.

Guardiola's side will face Aston Villa at the Etihad on Sunday, February 12 at the Etihad. The Spaniard said about it:



"We have to go back to Manchester and prepare for the match against Aston Villa."

City are next in action on Sunday 12 February when they host Aston Villa in the Premier League.
