Erik ten hag clarifies Manchester United's judgment to red card Casemiro after a collision.
Manchester United host Leeds on Wednesday, but manager Erik ten Hag will be missing several first-team players as the Red Devils attempt to close the gap on Arsenal.
Erik ten Hag has revealed that Manchester United have abandoned their plan to appeal Casemiro's suspension for his red card against Crystal Palace.
The midfielder was dismissed after VAR Tony Harrington noticed him grabbing the neck of Palace's Will Hughes. Casemiro was then sent off, though Ten Hag hinted that the Red Devils would consider appealing.
However, United have reversed their stance, with Ten Hag confirming that the Brazilian would miss Wednesday's game against Leeds. He is one of six players who have been ruled out of the match, including Anthony Martial, Christian Eriksen, Scott McTominay, Donny van de Beek, and Antony.
"Think about it, yeah. Still, it's not the right decision for me, but I don't think we have a chance in court "Ten Hag explained.
"They're not playing tomorrow [Martial and McTominay]. The same goes for Antony dos Santos. He is also unavailable for tomorrow, so we must make other arrangements. I always have to play with the available players.
"We have a squad, we have many good players in our squad who aren't starting, and I have to do it. I can't say Casemiro isn't there or Anthony Martial isn't there after a game; we have to win. United are capable, and we must win the games regardless of who is playing.
While United has had four players ruled out, Leeds is without a manager after sacking Jesse Marsch on Monday. Ten Hag, on the other hand, is not taking anything for granted as United seeks to close the gap on Premier League leaders Arsenal.
"It's all about the rose match. It's unquestionably a big game. It is located in England. It's significant for us. We have Manchester City and Liverpool, but this game means so much to our fans, and our players will know what to do," he added.
"You definitely don't know. We had to be aware of this so that when Jesse Marsch was at Leeds, we knew exactly how they played. It is possible that they will change, but it is also possible that they will not. We will do so.
"But we need good anticipation on that so we know what to do. We had a week to prepare like we did against Villa when Emery came in, but not as much this time. We'll see, but we need to be prepared.
"I've always said that if a manager is fired, I don't believe it. Allow managers to do their jobs. The pressure on football club decision-makers is high, but statistics show that it doesn't always work out well."
