A Nigerian man is currently dealing with the laws of the United States after he was arrested on charges of owning 25 different bank accounts which he uses in defrauding or ripping  elderly victims of their wealth.


The 39 year old man is identified as Mr olaniyi Nasiru Ojikutu have been sentenced to more than 7 years imprisonment in the United States for his role in an international romance scam. He was one of the people 10 people arrested on the operation Gold-phish, a Chicago based operation used in fishing out scams that targets old people CBSNEWS  reports.


According to reports, the 39 year old is a permanent citizen of the United States and helped lead a multi-year fraud scheme carried out by these scammers in the United States and Nigeria as well. They usually target old people who needs companions, persuade them and when the trust is build, they lure you into sending them huge sums of money to suit their extravagant lifestyles.


Further reports revealed that, in a period of three years,  Mr Olaniyi Nasiru opened about 25 bank accounts in his personal name, Fake name and a company name through which he obtained about $3.4m from his victims, prosecutors revealed. When Olaniyi Nasiru found out his cup had run out and he was exposed in 2019, authorities said he quickly run to Canada for refuge but was arrested months later and handed back to the United States authorities in January 2020.


Upon prosecution, he was found guilty of all charges leveled against him and was sentenced to 88 months imprisonment.

If you speak against fraud in Nigeria some people

will come for you and blame the government but

now they're in a country where you can easily find a job and make money for yourself but yet they still do fraud. I believe government isn't the cause but greediness, laziness and selfishness.
