Rangers coach Michael Beale orders his team to let opponents score after controversial goal

Rangers coach Michael Beale ordered his team to let Patrick Thistle score after scoring a controversial goal.

In a tight Scottish Cup encounter, Rangers fell behind after Kevin Holt's 35th-minute penalty put Thistle ahead.

In the second half, the game exploded after Antonio Colak equalized five minutes after restarting.

In the 71st minute, after Rangers player Malik Tillman was injured, Holt passed the ball back to Rangers after a throw-in, at which point Tillman jumped in to steal the ball before going around the goalkeeper to give Rangers the lead. Chaos ensued as the Thistle players were furious with Tillman's actions.

After things settled down, Rangers boss Beale appeared to demand his players let Thistle score the equalizer right away.

Scott Tiffoney was allowed to go freely towards the net, but Rangers goalkeeper Allan McGregor half-heartedly tried to stop the goal because he was unhappy with the coach's decision. You can see the full situation below.

Fans were quick to praise Beale on social media. One fan said:

"Michael Beale's incredible sportsmanship."

Another person tweeted:

"Hooray Michael Beale, outstanding sportsmanship."

The third added:

"So proud. Well done guys. Thank you Michael Beale for his athleticism.

Another person wrote:

"Let's play fair with Beale, then people will respect him a lot more."

While the fifth said:

“I just heard about the events at Ibrox. Credit when the credits are due. Michael Beale shows good sportsmanship.

Rangers finally got their last laugh when a late James Sands goal sealed a 3-2 win and a place in the next round of the competition. Rangers' next game will be a Scottish Premiership clash with Livingston as they look to chase leaders Celtic, who are currently nine points ahead of the top.
