Rodrigo Bentancur is expected to miss at least six months of action for Tottenham due to an alleged anterior cruciate ligament injury sustained against Leicester.

Bentancur, who scored the first goal in Tottenham's 4-1 loss, was able to leave the field, but he did so with his face buried in his hands because of the seriousness of the injury.

According to The Evening Standard, Bentancur's 2022–23 season will be over early because he is now expected to remain out until August at the earliest.

Antonio Conte, the manager of Tottenham, is having a crisis with injuries, and things are just getting worse.

On Friday, Yves Bissouma, a fellow midfielder, underwent surgery for a stress fracture in his left ankle.Hugo Lloris, the captain and No. 1 goalie, is out for eight weeks, so Conte is also dealing with his absence.

MORE IS COMING.

#Foxes fan brutally trolls Spurs by holding up picture of empty trophy cabinet

A Leicester City fan mocked Tottenham's lack of silverware by holding up a picture of an empty trophy cabinet during his side's emphatic 4-1 win.

Brendan Rodgers' side thumped Spurs at the King Power Stadium on Saturday afternoon, as Antonio Conte's men suffered a huge blow in their pursuit of the top four.

Tottenham are still in the FA Cup and the Champions League, and they are fifth in the Premier League table.

But the wait for a major trophy is set to reach 15 years later this month; their last triumph came in the 2008 Carabao Cup.

Since then, Leicester have won the Premier League and FA Cup.

And one home fan celebrated his team's success by waving an image of an empty trophy cabinet to the travelling fans, a reference to Tottenham's lack of silverware in recent years.

Conte did secure Champions League qualification for Tottenham last season after a superb end to the campaign.

However, they have struggled to build on that as local rivals Arsenal sit atop the table.

Spurs fans, on the other hand, will be hoping for silverware this season, either in the FA Cup or the Champions League.

The Lilywhites travel to Championship side Sheffield United in the fifth round of the FA Cup on March 1.

But before that, they travel to Conte's home country to take on AC Milan in the first leg of their Champions League last-16 tie on Tuesday.

They will then welcome the Serie A champions to London for the return leg on March 8.

Spurs' last major final came in 2021, when they lost 1-0 to Manchester City in the Carabao Cup.

Meanwhile, Leicester sit 13th in the Premier League table following their win over Tottenham.

And they are now just five points adrift of the top half as they look to recover from a poor first half of the campaign.
