The Ghanaian people have been assured by President Akufo-Addo of the government's resolve to effectively resolve the issues the country is now facing.

On Sunday, February 12, 2023, President Akufo-Addo said in remarks at the 18th Consultative Council Meeting of the Anglican Church that he understood Ghana was going through a tough moment, as were the majority of people throughout the world.

"But with the assistance of Almighty God and strengthened by a sense of resolve, hard work, and collective sacrifices on our part, I am confident that we will successfully confront the challenges, bring relief to the Ghanaian people, and return the economy to the high rates of growth that characterized the management of our economy in the three (3) years prior to the COVID outbreak in 2020 and the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

The government is "implementing a variety of policy measures to achieve this objective, and sooner rather than later, we shall overcome," the president claimed.

The President welcomed the 105th Archbishop of Canterbury, Rt. Hon. Justin Portal Welby, and the Anglican Consultative Council to Ghana and told the crowd that the Anglican Church continues to play a significant role in the growth and development of the country and has been a good example of what it means to love one another and give cheerfully to those in need.

"All Anglicans owe the Primate and Metropolitan Archbishop and his colleagues a huge debt of gratitude for the current dynamic in the Anglican Communion in Ghana. "I have participated and have continued with activities, and as an Anglican, I am pleased with it," he stated.

Regarding the Anglican Church of Ghana's financial sustainability strategy, which aims to bring the church to a position of self-reliance, the president praised the church for choosing to launch an insurance brokerage.

He emphasized, "I also wish to congratulate the Bishop, Rt Rev Dr Daniel Torto, and the entire membership of my diocese, the Diocese of Accra, for their significant investment in the field of agriculture, through the cultivation of their 1,000-acre rubber plantation, the largest privately owned rubber plantation in the nation.

"These and other initiatives being undertaken by other dioceses are positively influencing Ghana's economic growth and the creation of jobs in diverse areas," the president stated. The government is prepared to work with and support the church's different efforts, particularly those that adhere to the guiding principles of state policy, in order to foster the growth of a progressive and successful Ghana.
