Young man narrates how he was almost beaten up at jibowu while he was on his way to work. A police officer stopped him and placed their sharp metal in front him to stop his car. He asked what was his offense and the officer replied he will know ones they get to court.
He further added that, he asked what was his offense but couldn’t get a reply, and according to him, the officer was heavily smelling of alcohol, he further added that, he told the officer he was going for an important meeting if he can’t tell him his offense, the next thing he realized was a bus stoping next to him and four men stepped down telling him they are from state intelligence and he needs to step out of the car and hand over his keys to them.
He refused and he was almost beaten up and started taking video of the occurring incident. He was scared for his dear life as there have been incidents of people beaten to de@th by police officers who are meant to protect them.
Read his narrating below;
“This was my reality today, I was heading for a
meeting driving slowly along Empire towards Jibowu following the traffic and this LASTMA official came to the front of my car and asked me to park he placed their sharp metal object right
under my front tire. I asked oga why are you stopping me and what is my offense he told me when we get to the court I will know what my offense is he was smelling of alcohol heavily and I
responded I'm heading for a meeting if you can't tell me what my offense is I'm sorry I can't park. The next thing a black bus parked and 4 men dropped they said they are from the state
Intelligence and they asked me to step out of my car and hand over my keys I asked them the same question oga what is my offense they couldn't say anything and I told them I'm sorry I can't step out of my car because I don't know what my offense
is, I'm not feeling safe and I'm heading for a meeting scheduled for the next hour. Before I knew it they forced themself into my car and begin to assault me strangling me with my necktie, they were mad because I was recording them, to cut the long story short one of them said this one will put us in trouble and the 4th
CID guy stepped in playing the good guy role, he came to me and said let's settle this matter so you can go for your meeting right there they forced me to delete the videos evidence but I was
able to retrieve them from recycle bin and they allowed me to leave, getting to where I was going I realized they have stolen my wallet with $420 and 6500 new notes and few business cards.
I was scared for my life at a point @policeng_lagos @gm_lastma
@ekolastma_ please we can't continue to live in fear like this in our state and country”.
