Ghanaian singer Raphael Camidoh Kofi Attachie better known by his stage name Camidoh, is a singer, song writer and a performer notable for his smashed hit “Sugarcane” and “sugarcane remix”, the remix featured Nigerian artist Mayorkun and Ghanaian highlife musician King promise.
Camidoh’s manager George Britton giving a brief history about how the both the “Sugarcane” and “sugarcane remix” became a hit song reveals that, it cost them about GHC975,000 to make the two songs one of the most biggest songs across Africa.
The video of both the actual song and remix are both on YouTube and has gathered a whooping 6.2million and 52million views respectively, making it one of the highest viewed videos in the Ghanaian music industry. George giving the breakdown of the ghc975,000 was spent revealed the following;
“JWillz and Rex, two incredible Ghanaian
directors, shot and edited two music videos,
Sugarcane and Sugarcane Remix, respectively.
Promotions were run on both radio and TV in
Ghana, Nigeria, Kenya, Rwanda, Tanzania, Sierra
Leone, the UK, and the US.
"Online ad sponsors, social media influencers,
and content creators in Ghana, Nigeria, Kenya,
the UK, the US, Tanzania, etc. were equally
engaged. Nightclubs and bars in Africa as well as
the UK played a significant role.
"Camidoh attained global success as one of
Africa's most streamed artists after spending just
over Ghc975,000 in a year, on one song.
"This feat was achieved by the amazing team
behind Camidoh, i.e., Grind Don't Stop, GB
Recz, and Crux Global, not forgetting some
amazing support from the media, family, and
friends.
To constantly achieve this success and more, the
music industry will need a much stronger enabler,
i.e., the presence of major record labels, heavy
financial support from the government, and angel
investors in the music industry to help propel the the artists to a global stage”. He revealed.
Camidoh has also provided hot songs such as “for my lover”, “Ghetto luv” and more. He recently released an EP titled “A lifetime is no enough” and it’s doing massively well on all streaming platforms. The song “Adoley” on the EP is fast gaining attention and might be one of his biggest records after sugarcane.
