Nigerian actress Simisola Gold who was arrested on the charges of spreading and stepping on the new naira notes have been granted a bail charge of N5million. Simisola went viral when videos of her spraying and stepping on the new naira notes went viral.


When she was arrested for questioning, the actress revealed that, the money was gifted to her by her fans and added that she did not know where exactly the money came from. This is as a result of the scarcity of the new naira notes in Nigeria. And according to sources, the money she was seen spraying was an amount of N100,000.


The 31 year old actress was arrested and arraigned to court by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). Ruling on the case today, the 15th of February, presiding judge, Justice Chukwujekwu Aneke granted bail to the actress in the sum of N5million with one surety.


In the case of the ruling, see the terms below;


“The judge also ruled that the surety must be a public servant in the service of the Federation or the Lagos State Government not below the rank of Grade Level 12, or a holder of a genuine statutory certificate of occupancy of a developed landed property within the Lagos State

Municipality. The court also held that the Certified True Copy (CTC) of the original statutory certificate of occupancy of the landed property is to be deposited with the Registrar of

the court and in the case of the public servant, an official letter from his or her head of department stating the status and salary level of the surety.

The surety is to also produce to the court, two copies of his recent passport photograph and evidence of payment of tax.


The judge also ordered that the actress be further

remanded in the Kirikiri correctional facility pending the perfection of the bail terms, before adjourning the matter till April 3, for trial”.


The case of the actress further raised concerns and users questioned the authorities about those in power who launder money and embezzle the state funds.
