A Nigerian court sitting at Tafawa Balewa Square, Lagos has ordered kidnap kingpin identified as Evans to return the £233,000 he took from a victims family and pay an additional N50Million as damages. 


The kidnap kingpin Identified as Chukwudumeme onwuamadike better known as Evans  has been ordered by a Lagos high court to return back the ransom of £233,000 to one Mr Donatus Dunu and add an additional N50Million as damages. According to sources, Evans abducted Dunu on the 14 of march 2017, Dunu who is pharmacist was later freed from captivity after the kidnapper took an amount of £233,000 as ransom from his family.


After Dunu had successfully escaped from the grips of Evans, Dunu who is the CEO of Maydon pharmaceutical company, filed a lawsuit against Evans demanding the returning of his £233,000 he paid while the custody of Evans and also demanded a damages amount of N50Million.


Speaking on the judgement, the presiding judge identified as Justice Ogunjobi said the following ;


"I accept the unchallenged and uncontroverted evidence of the Claimant and his witnesses. The evidence support the reliefs sought by the

Claimant. Consequently, the Claimant is entitled to be paid or repaid and or recover from the Defendant, the sum of €233,000 ransom coercively paid by the Claimant to Defendant when the Defendant kidn@pped the Claimant in the year 2017 and held the Claimant hostage for months.


The sum of N50million is awarded as general dam@ges in favor of the Claimant against the Defendant. Post judgment interest is awarded on the said sum of €233,000 at the rate of 10% per annum from judgment i.e. 14th of February, 2023 until final liquidation. The adjudged said sum of €233,000 and N50,000,000 is hereby

ordered to be paid or recovered from the Assets of the Defendant. This is the Judgment of the Court."
