The transfer of Marcos Alonso from Chelsea to Barcelona has been reported to FIFA
Marcos Alonso's move to Barcelona was reported to FIFA by his former club.
Alonso moved to the Blaugrana on a free basis during the summer transfer window after his contract with Chelsea was terminated by mutual consent.
He signed for Barca the same day Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang interrupted his stay at Camp Nou by going to Chelsea.
The Spain international signed a one-year contract with the Catalan giants but recently agreed to an extension until June 2024 with a €50 million release clause.
But Union Adarve, with whom Alonso played as an academy player, believes they are entitled to transfer compensation. They claim the deal that saw Alonso join Barca was part of a £11m swap that saw Aubameyang move to Stamford Bridge.
And according to Mundo Deportivo, the fourth-place team believes they owe 103,000 euros under FIFA's solidarity system to reward clubs that have played an important role in player development.
Alonso is a young product of Real Madrid and has only played alone for the first team, but he has also spent time with Adarve.
They are adamant that it is a joint operation involving Alonso and Aubameyang and say they have information to back up their claims, taking the matter to world football's governing body.
Barca could face penalties such as fines if they are found to have breached the rules in place, but AS claim the club is calm about the whole situation. Xavi Hernandez's side had a very interesting Europa League play-off with Manchester United and Alonso started at centre-back alongside Jules Kounde.
The 32-year-old made his 22nd appearance for Barca in the clash and scored the opening goal with a header.
However, United turned the game around with a Marcus Rashford strike and an own goal from Kounde.
A Raphinha cross went all the way and made it 2-2 in a thrilling second half.

Meanwhile, Manchester United have yet to agree a new deal with the striker despite talks having begun months ago. They activated a one-year extension in December to avoid losing him for free at the end of the season.
Rashford has been in fine form since returning from the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar. He has scored 8 goals in the last 10 matches in all competitions for the Reds.
Arsenal urged to sign Manchester United striker Rashford
Former Arsenal players have been pushing the Gunners to make a move for Marcus Rashford. They think the English player will be a good choice and will help improve their attack. Ray Parlor told talkSPORT earlier this season:
"Marcus Rashford is going through a difficult period but he is a top player. I'm sure many clubs will ask about Marcus Rashford if he is available this summer. Arsenal for sure, I'm very impressed. want him to come to Arsenal That's the position Arsenal need to look at this summer; it's very important for the club If Rashford is available - and I don't think he will be because United will crazy to sell him - but if he's ready, then Arsenal will certainly be interested in him."
Kevin Campbell also agreed when speaking to Football Insider:
“He ticked some very good boxes for Arsenal. In counterattack, it can be devastating. He beat Arsenal at Old Trafford earlier this season with his pace. Rashford can wreak havoc on his day; We know that. Manchester United are reluctant to hear about it. I'm sure Arsenal will pick him up if he's available next summer. He is an international player who has played on the big stages. He knows how to win games. That's what Arsenal sometimes lack."
Arsenal signed Leandro Trossard from Brighton & Hove Albion in the January transfer window after losing Mykhailo Mudryk to Chelsea.
