A year ago
While we still mourning the death of South African rapper Kiernan Jarryds Forbes and his best friend Tebello Motsoane who were both gunned down at Florida Durban street outside the “WISH” restaurant on the 10 of February 2023.
Yesterday, a memorial service was held for the best friend, Chef, entrepreneur and former manager of AKA, Tebello Motsoane better known as “TIBZ” friends and loved ones attended the service to show their love and support to the grieving family in this hard time. The memorial service was held at the “Sacred Heart College” .
Friend of the late “TIBZ” identified as “Mabanga” made a few comments to loved ones of his friend and asked the media and people spreading false narratives to stop. He revealed that, “TIBZ” travelled to Durban for his birthday celebration. He further added that, his last weekend with “TIBZ” was an amazing one before his passing on that faithful Friday.
"Tibz was incredibly happy at this time of his
life,".
"Tibz flew to Durban to be with me on mybirthday, that's why he was there," he further added.
He also added that, “TIBZ” told him he was passing by Florida to see AKA and head to Umhlanga for my birthday after seeing his old friend. Going forward he revealed how the world stopped for him a bit when he heard the news because he had just spoken to “TIBZ” around 9.
"I spoke to him again, probably around 9 [pm].
and then the news started streaming in, it felt like
the world had just stopped. Just nothing made
sense, all I could see was that smile. We stopped
everything we were doing and we drove to where
he was."
He also commended the friends of AKA who quickly conveyed his body to present the crowd from taking pictures to circulate on social media. In the last part of his speech, he revealed they will be building an Ultramodern state of the art food and technology laboratory at their old school to honor their best friend. This initiative is sponsored by the friends of “TIBZ”.
"The laboratory will be designed with the latest
technology and equipment providing students
with the tools to develop the next generation of
food products and a chance to follow in Tibz
footsteps."
Police is still investigating into the sudden death of these two young men.
