THE PSYCHOLOGY OF LYING

greetings to everyone, what is lying? who is a liar? and why do people lie? and some reasons not to lie. Stay calm and enjoy your reading as I find answers to these questions.

According to Britannica, ''lies are statements that the speaker believes to be false and that are intended to cause the person toward whom they are directed to accept them as true. In this view, lies must be assertoric. That is, lies must be in the form of a statement, it must be the intention of the liar to cause the target to believe the content of the assertion, and it must be the case that only persons can lie or be lied to. In this view, it is not necessary that the content of the assertion really be false, only that the liar believes it to be false.'' Therefore, simply a liar is someone who tells lies.

WHY DO PEOPLE LIE?

The majority of people lie much more frequently than they are willing to acknowledge, even to themselves, according to psychologists. According to a 2002 research by American psychologist Robert S. Feldman, people lie on average two to three times for every 10 minutes of conversation time. This statistic is the most frequently cited one for the incidence of lying.

-The need to maintain one's self-esteem,

-the drive to avoid confrontation,

-and the urge to influence others to act in one's own best interests are among the many reasons for lying that psychologists have identified in Blagg and Lotha(2016).

-to maintain their sense of self.

-to safeguard someone else.

-to gain favor with others and improve one's reputation.

-to lessen or avoid conflict.

-Quick satisfaction.

SOME REASONS NOT TO LIE

-It's unethical.

-It is upsetting. Second, it hinders your own development. By lying, you put off facing the truth and prevent yourself from developing as a person.

-You would possibly forget about the lie. What happens if you forget about what you had lied about? Then you definitely are out of luck.

-It's disrespectful and selfish. .

-You need to cope with the lie alone.

-It's cowardly. It takes a variety of bravery to tell the fact, so why not courageous up and try it? There is no disgrace in being courageous.

-It prevents humans from knowing the true you.

-It's embarrassing to get caught.

-It could cost you the whole thing. And sooner or later, you may lose everything: your buddies, your husband or spouse, your circle of relatives, and your activity.
