The Ghanaian international's agency and club, Hataypor, announced his death in the early hours of Saturday.
Following a 7.8 magnitude earthquake that rocked Turkey and Syria last week, Atsu was buried by debris.
Afterward, his remains are anticipated to be sent to Ghana for burial.
The Premier League said, "We are very grieved by the news that Christian Atsu lost his life in the destruction of the earthquakes that have rocked Turkey and Syria."
"Christian's family, friends, and everyone impacted by this awful occurrence are in our thoughts and prayers,"
Christian Atsu is well-known for earning the best player award at the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations [AFCON], when he was named the competition's top player.
He participated in the Black Stars team that competed in the Brazil 2014 World Cup.
