The title race is hotter than ever in the English Premier League season 2022/23, when Manchester City is the defending champion and has just monopolized the top of the table. The Gunners didn't give up their championship hopes after the Citizens figuratively beat them. The London Gunners came back to defeat a rather dangerous football club, Aston Villa. The Blues are breaking through thin ice as they ride the roller coaster of EPL results. Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola also appeared to be on a roller coaster ride as many supporters thought he was firmly in possession of the league title, but he handed it back to the club.

The London Gunners have lost more than they have won in the Premier League, but they have racked up a staggering 54 points this season. The Citizens rose to second place after a horrendous draw against former UEFA Champions League champions Nottingham Forest years ago.

Manchester City offer Nathan Ake a new contract this summer.

The long-term deal will include a significant pay rise for the Netherlands international, with his weekly salary set to rise from £80,000 to £120,000. Man City are keen to reward Ake for his best season since leaving Bournemouth for the Etihad in June 2020.

More than a winger formerly with the English champions, the £42m defender has become a vital link in Pep Guardiola's full-back - with the ability to operate in the center or Left-back is a huge asset.

Ake, 28, has made 25 appearances in all competitions this season ahead of yesterday's Premier League trip to Nottingham Forest. City boss Guardiola, who blocked Chelsea's bid to buy the former player last summer, sees him as the perfect role model for his young stars.

Ake's dedicated approach, even unpopular over the past two years, has particularly impressed the Spaniard. And that has certainly paid off in recent months, with Ake now a mainstay in City's defence.

Is Nathan Ake Manchester City's Best Defender? Let us know in the comments section. His performance in the 3-1 win over Arsenal last week was met with praise, especially for the way he silenced England winger Bukayo Saka after the first half.

It's just another example of why City decided to offer him a contract extension in June - despite still having two years left on his current contract.

Ake first appeared in England when he signed for the Chelsea youth team from Dutch club Feyenoord at the age of 15.

But he made just seven league appearances for the Londoners, being on loan at Reading, Watford and Bournemouth, before joining the side, on a permanent basis, in 2017 for a record £20m. .

Ake, who has 34 caps for the Netherlands, made more than 100 appearances for the Cherries before moving to City.
