?- Best Foods for Detox
Hello again,
I
used to think healthy eating is the only thing I had to do to keep my body fit
and healthy, well that and exercising,
and of course since I thought that was all to it I thought I was already well
prepped.
I couldn’t have been any more
wrong.
Whew,
no one said trying to maintain a healthy lifestyle was easy, but I am a very determined person.
Even
though our body naturally detoxifies themselves, the main characters that help
us with this are our kidneys and livers. This is why it is very
important to know how to care for them. Despite the fact that they have been
equipped to filter your body from toxins, that’s essentially what
detoxing is, you also need to do your part in that process.
Now I know you’re asking, ‘Heidi,
how best can I help my body to better filter the toxins in my system?’
Ok
maybe not everyone asked but anyways
your sis has got you ;)
So without
further ado, let's look at some of the best foods that can aid us in
detoxification.
· Avocados
- I honestly feel like avocados are slept on. Not only are they quite versatile
in the world of food but they are loaded with antioxidants that help
your body expel harmful toxins. Also, they are absolutely delicious. Need any
help incorporating avocados into your diet, your girl has got you. You can find
delectably healthy recipes with avocado in them on multiple food recipe
websites. Try the chicken and vegetable breakfast wrap options, they are my
absolute favourite.
Apples – Don’t you just love apples? They are so good for you and it's an added plus that they are simply delicious, whether on their own or in desserts. Apples are high in pectin, which is a type of fiber that binds to cholesterol and heavy metals in the body, they help eliminate toxic buildup and to cleanse the intestines. And yes I think apple juice is superior to orange juice.
· Garlic – Oh the pungent ingredient magnificence that is garlic. Alongside giving the flavour boost most dishes need, garlic helps to cleanse harmful bacteria, intestinal parasites, and viruses from your body, especially from the blood and intestines. Additionally, it assists with cleansing the respiratory tract by removing mucous build-up in the lungs and sinuses. Isn’t it marvelous when something is delicious and healthy?
·
Lemons –
Lemons have always been one of my favourite citrus fruits. Being exceptionally excellent
liver detoxifiers, lemons contain high amounts of vitamin C, which
is necessary for the growth, development, and repair of all body tissues.
The glow it gives your skin is
unmatched. I can talk about the benefits of vitamin C for an eternity, that’s
how good it is for you. Try to add a squeeze of fresh lemon juice to your water
each day, it’s extremely refreshing.
· Beets –
Growing up I had never been a fan of beets. Whenever I would see my mother
cutting it up the bright red color of its juice was enough for me to say ‘no
thank you’. However, having made it a point to try everything I didn’t like, as
long as I was not allergic, and beets were one of the vegetables I grew to
love. It can be eaten raw, which makes it great in salads, or cooked. Beets
are filled with antioxidants and nutrients that make them superb blood
purifiers and liver cleansers.
·
Cabbage – Being
a surprisingly very versatile vegetable, Cabbage contains numerous
anticancer and antioxidant compounds and helps the liver break down excess
hormones. Cabbage also cleanses the digestive tract and also strengthens the
liver’s ability to detoxify.
There are so many ingredients in food that give us
an array of benefits. The trick is to know what they are and how to use them to
best suit your needs.
Till
next time….
Love
Always,
Heidi
