Riyad Mahrez is an Algerian professional footballer who plays as a winger for Premier League club Manchester City and the Algerian national team. Born on February 21, 1991, in Sarcelles, France, Mahrez began his youth career at local club AAS Sarcelles before moving to Quimper Kerfeunteun FC in Brittany, France.

Mahrez began his professional career in 2009 with French club Le Havre AC before joining English club Leicester City in 2014. At Leicester City, Mahrez was an integral part of the team that won the 2015-16 Premier League title, contributing 17 goals and 10 assists in 37 appearances. His performances earned him the PFA Players' Player of the Year award and the African Footballer of the Year award in 2016.

In 2018, Mahrez moved to Manchester City for a club-record fee of £60 million. He has since won three Premier League titles, two EFL Cups, and the FA Cup with Manchester City. In the 2020-21 season, Mahrez played a crucial role in Manchester City's title-winning campaign, scoring 14 goals and providing 9 assists in all competitions.

On the international stage, Mahrez has represented Algeria since 2014 and played a crucial role in their triumph at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations. He was named Player of the Tournament after scoring three goals and providing two assists in the tournament.


Mahrez is widely regarded as one of the best African players to have played in the Premier League.
