Meyers Manx recently introduced a brand-new Remastered Kit for dune buggy enthusiasts. In the 1960s, Bruce Meyers introduced his first dune buggy, which was based on the Volkswagen Beetle. Since 1970, the design has essentially remained unchanged. For the first time in over 50 years, this reimagined kit makes minor adjustments to the Meyers-Manx formula. The following is new:
For a more seamless fit, the DIY kit now includes a locking rear trunk, a removable dash assembly, integrated wiring tubes, and digital remastering. Additionally, customers will have access to a wider variety of colors, including metal flakes and solid gel coats. A UV clear coat is applied to each color to provide additional protection.
Legendary designer Freeman Thomas, who integrated the modifications into the original design, stated, "It is a privilege to work on the Manx Dune Buggy, which is such an iconic piece of California cultural history." The Remastered program's objective was to preserve Bruce Meyers' distinctive design while incorporating cutting-edge features that make full assembly more accessible to a wider audience.
Phillip Sarofim, chairman of Meyers Manx, stated, "The 1960s were all about can-do spirit, from grassroots car customizers to the Space Program." With a modernized, simpler version of the original dune buggy kit that sparked an automotive cultural movement, we're bringing back a taste of that era. There have been numerous imitations of the original Meyers Manx, but it has never been replicated, and this presents an opportunity to create and drive an authentic legend.
Meyers Manx The founder of RUF, Alois Ruf, has already shown an interest in this new kit, and he might buy one for himself or even make a faster version through his company. "The classic Meyers Manx Buggy always drives like a dream to us," he said.The remastered kit should make it easier for a new group of enthusiasts to build their dream cars at home, as we are aware that some people find at-home assembly difficult.
The Meyers Manx 2.0 will appear in the not-too-distant future, ushering the legendary rise buggy into the electric age. More information to come.
