Liverpool defender Joel Matip admits it's hard to imagine playing for any manager other than Jurgen Klopp. The former Cameroon international has only Klopp as his boss at Anfield.
Matip joined Liverpool on a free transfer from Schalke in the summer of 2016. Klopp has known the centre-back since his time in the Bundesliga and made him an important addition to his squad.
He won both the Premier League and the Champions League during his time at the club, but regularly struggled with injury problems. Klopp has seen growing doubts about his future this season due to Liverpool's poor domestic performance.
Matip thanked the German for the impact he has made on his career so far and acknowledged that it would not be the same without him. Matip told talkSPORT:
"At my old club, I had several managers, and here I only have him [Klopp].
"He's the coach that brought me here and of course he had a big influence on me, he made me a better player. It's hard to imagine anyone else there."
Matip still has 18 months left on his contract with Liverpool. He talks about his admiration for the club where he has made so many memories.
He added:
"Seven years for a footballer is a long time, it was a stressful time and I learned a lot. I went to a new country and joined a great and great club. It's always been an honor to play for Liverpool and I always try to enjoy It.
"Wearing a Liverpool shirt makes you feel six feet taller, especially when you're playing at Anfield and the fans are singing. It always gives you an extra motivation. It's a special club."

Along with speculation about Klopp's long-term future, Liverpool are also linked with transfer targets ahead of the possibility of rebuilding in the summer. But Matip refused to participate in the rumors.
I said:
"It's not my mindset, I don't listen to everything, people and what they say, I can't hear all of this and be influenced by it. I have complete confidence in the my teammates and in myself I know the quality of myself and my teammates and we go from there. "There will always be discussions around the club and about the club and you have to get used to that. When you play for Liverpool and things don't go your way, people are always asking for changes. - that's normal."
