A significant milestone is celebrated by the well-known German automaker.
Porsche is celebrating 75 years of engineering excellence and constant innovation, making this an important year for the company. The brand has put out a short video to start the celebrations and show what makes the brand so successful, which is the desire to follow one's dreams and make them come true.
Ferdinand Porsche Sr. established Porsche in 1931 but would not produce its first vehicle until 1948. Before the sports car was made into the 356/2, only one 356/1 prototype was made. The company was founded by Ferdinand Sr., but the first sports car was developed by Ferdinand Jr., or Ferry.
He had no idea that the company, with its headquarters in Zuffenhausen, would develop into one of the leading luxury brands in the world. "I couldn't find the sports car of my dreams, so I built it myself," Ferry famously stated. Since then, Porsche has carved out its own path and produced dream automobiles for countless fans worldwide.
The video focuses on Porsche's ability to dream and the incredible accomplishments that have resulted from pursuing those dreams. The infamous "Pink Pig," a 917/20 race car that caused a stir at Le Mans in 1971, and other motorsport successes are mentioned in passing. The numerous lap records and victories that have been set at the Nurburgring in Porsches are also mentioned by the brand.
However, the brand is so much more than just its successes in motorsports. The paint-to-sample service is the most well-known Porsche customization option, and it has won over a lot of fans. The manufacturer offers a variety of colors from which to choose, and if you're lucky, they may even name a special color after you.
The narrator states, "We've always been for the bold, bright, and brave." The word "dream" is used to describe our universe. "a gathering place for innovators, racers, and artists."
Through changing patterns and designs—and progressively harder regulation—Porsche had adjusted yet never wandered a long way from its beginnings. The Porsche 911 is still one of the best sports cars money can buy because of this. Over the years, it has been perfected to the point where it is now an icon and the standard in its market.
Zuffenhausen behaves in typical Porsche fashion even when it does depart from what it knows. Because of this, the Cayenne redefined what an SUV can be. Even though the Cayenne is tall and heavy, it handles with the dynamism one would expect from Porsche.
Many are concerned that the automaker will lose its uniqueness as the electric future draws closer. However, as the Taycan has demonstrated, Porsche does not require a combustion engine to produce an exciting and nimble vehicle. The 718 and Macan EVs, which are preparing for a debut any day now, are just two of the upcoming battery-powered Porsche models.
Porsche, here's to the next 75 years.
The Porsche 911 Targa 4 will be available in 2021 and 2023.
