Sam Nartey George, a member of parliament for Ningo-Prampram and the author of the so-called "anti-LGBTQ+" Promotion of Appropriate Human Sexual Rights and Ghanaian Family Values Bill, 2021, has disclosed that Attorney General Godfred Dame supports the LGBTQ+ bill in its current form.

The Attorney-General reportedly said that because the law does not violate human rights, he did not perceive a contradiction between it and the Constitution in its current form.

In an interview, he said the following:

Hence, if the Attorney General brought up a concern about the human rights of those who had a biological aberration, the committee's work would have already addressed it. Overall, we ended the meeting in a little over an hour, as I mentioned.

"We asked him a certain question, and when he responded, I asked him whether I could even put it out." He then gave it."

The Attorney General responded that he did not see any conflict between our bill and the Constitution in its current form; he did not see any infringement on human rights; and he actually supports the bill.

I asked him specifically if he thought that the current shape of the bill that the committee had worked on—and that the membership and sponsors also felt comfortable representing our aspirations—infringed on any fundamental human rights in Ghana.

It is currently The Attorney General identified four instances where our law was a welcome improvement.

Sam George noted that in March 2023, the House will hear the measure.

This comes after the Attorney General told the bill's committee during a meeting on Wednesday, February 22, 2023, that he was okay with it.

"Now that there is a light at the end of the tunnel, I can see it." The light at the end of the tunnel has arrived. And we'll provide that report to the house for floor discussions, probably by the end of March or before this house rises. So keep an eye on this spot. Our situation is favorable. And we anticipate having your full support to pass this historic legislation, which will be the first of its kind.

Such assertion was made by the Attorney General for the first time on the African continent yesterday. A Nigerian law prohibits same-sex unions. Just that. It lacks all the other items on our bill. "We're thrilled about this," Sam George continued.
