This weekend is the 16th annual Boca Raton Concours d'Elegance, and the action has already begun on February 24, 2023. It's a fantastic chance for Floridians and other Americans to see exquisite automobile art and meet some famous people.
Dale Earnhardt Jr., who needs no introduction, Mary Barra, Chief Executive Officer of General Motors, and Mindy Holman, Chair of Holman Enterprises, are this year's celebrities. The Automotive Lifetime Achievement Award will go to them all. David Spade will host Saturday night's "Grand Gala," where the aforementioned automotive celebrities will receive their awards, despite the fact that he will not be receiving an automotive achievement award.
Today's events are only open to VIPs, and Earnheart Jr., Barra, and Holman will each receive their awards on Saturday evening. You can participate in the action on Sunday if you are a member of Joe Public. The Grand Marshal, Wayne Carini, will be hosting the Concours d'Elegance on Sunday, February 26. Wayne Carini knows his way around a concours because he has won classes at other events. He may be known to you as the host of the television show Chasing Classic Cars. Over 200 restored automobiles and motorcycles from every era will delight attendees.
The Boca Raton Concours d'Elegance always pays tribute to a particular brand, and this year it is honoring Cadillac before the war. It will also pay tribute to two legends who will be 70 this year: the Cadillac Eldorado and Chevrolet Corvette.
The Cadillac Eldorado was considered to be the pinnacle of American luxury. The brand-new Cadillac Celestiq will soon take over, and despite being electric vehicles, the two vehicles share a few features. The renowned Cadillac Goddess, which is making a comeback on the Celestiq, was last seen on the 1959 Eldorado Brougham.
Jack Boyd Smith Jr., this year's Automobile Collector of the Year, will be bringing along a 1937 Cord 812 Phaeton Convertible that was owned by Amelia Earhart, a 1933 Chrysler Imperial LeBaron, and a few of his other exclusive vehicles.
LaVine Restorations, the winner of the award for the best restoration company, is likely to bring some of its best work. A few examples can be found in the image block below.
This year's event is hosted by Mercedes-Benz and AutoNation, and all proceeds will benefit the Boys & Girls Clubs of Broward County. Tickets range from $50 for Sunday's car show to $10,000 for Saturday night's awards ceremony.
In the event that AutoNation is successful in its negotiations with Alpine, one of these upcoming events might pay tribute to iconic French rally cars.
