A number of works of art with a motoring theme will soon be on display at the Petersen Automotive Museum.

The "Arsham Auto Motive" exhibit, which opens on February 25 at the California-based museum, will feature some of the artist Daniel Arsham's exquisite sculptures. Arsham's incredible full-scale works, which are said to have been influenced by his love of cars and fascination with archeology, can be appreciated by art enthusiasts as well as gearheads.

A 1968 Ford Mustang GT Fastback, a 1955 Porsche 356 Speedster, and a 2022 Porsche 911 are among the works that will be on display. Arsham has no interest in perfectly replicating these vehicles. Instead, by displaying these well-known sports cars in geological materials like calcite, he incorporates the archeology theme.

Additionally, the artworks in question appear to have been eroded. It appears as though the vehicles have been abandoned to rot. As time and nature conceivably eat away at the bodywork, it can be seen that some of the piece is crumbling and corroding.

The extremely detailed monochrome sculptures, which also include a Porsche 930 Turbo and a Ferrari 250 California, should provide visitors with a visual treat. The artist commented, "I'm excited to share my work with the city of Los Angeles and its vast community of car enthusiasts." This exhibition aims to show both the past and the future of automotive design, which is always changing.

Arsham has collaborated with a variety of international brands, including Adidas and Dior, but a rather unique project he worked on with Porsche caught the attention of car enthusiasts. The "356 Bonsai" depicted below challenges conventional wisdom regarding the process of restoration by attempting to reveal imperfections and flaws rather than concealing them. The end result is a genuine, classic Porsche that proudly displays its age.

He has worked with the German automaker before, previously collaborating on a rather unusual 911 Safari.

The Zuffenhausen-based company is familiar with the art car industry.  The Taycan Turbo, designed by Nigel Sense, is just one of a number of stunning Porsches that have appeared over the course of time and deserve to be in a gallery.

Terry L. Karges, the museum's executive director, stated, "It is evident that pop culture and the automotive sector make for an exciting, crowd-pleasing combination." "The talent of Daniel Arsham makes a strong case that cars can both serve as art pieces and inspiration for artistic creations."

Tickets for the exhibition are already available for purchase on the museum's website, which will please those who are interested in seeing it. Additionally, Arsham and the Petersen Automotive Museum will collaborate to produce exclusive merchandise that can be purchased online or at the museum.

The well-known shrine to all things automotive recently hosted a fantastic Tesla exhibit and even launched a free education course for aspiring automobile designers.
