Cristiano Ronaldo was a precariously talented youngster at Sporting CP when Sir Alex Ferguson first came across him. It was at Manchester United that the Portuguese superstar first solidified his reputation as one of the greatest players of our generation.

The illustrious George Best was so taken with Ronaldo that he made the following remarks

Over the years, a few players have been referred to as "the next George Best," but this is the first time it's been in a positive way about me.

Ronaldo has a great will to excel and, along with his exceptional talent and guts, has made himself one of the most well-known figures in sports.

Cristiano Ronaldo scored three goals in the first half to help Al Nassr defeat Damac 3-0 away from home and go to the top of the Saudi Premier League standings. After 18 minutes, Ronaldo scored the game's first goal from the penalty spot, giving him seven goals in five games in Saudi Arabia's top division. Ronaldo added to Kresimir Rezic's Damac's misery a minute before halftime by capping a sweeping counterattack to win the matchball. Damac has lost three straight games.

For reference, let's note that since his spectacular transfer to Riyadh late last year after his contract with Manchester United expired, the Portuguese superstar has scored eight goals. His total number of goals has increased to 827 and counting after three goals against Damac. Despite having a terrible few months, Ronaldo, who recently turned 38, has refused to call it quits on his brilliant career. He is currently the most productive player in all of football, and with 62 career hat-tricks under his belt, he is in a class by himself. The crucial question, though, is whether the five-time Ballon d'Or winner can score 1000 goals in his career before hanging up his skates.

Now, Ronaldo needs 173 more goals to reach the 1000-goal milestone. By the time his contract with Al Nassr expires in January 2025, he will be close to 40 years old. Nothing should be taken away from his prolificacy; as he once stated, records follow him, and if he maintains his current scoring rate, he may yet accomplish something no player in the history of football has ever managed. There is no reason to rule out Cristiano Ronaldo scoring 1,000 goals in his career.
