At the Chicago Auto Show, the third-generation Crosstrek made its public debut in US specifications.
At the Chicago Auto Show this year, Subaru unveiled the brand-new 2024 Crosstrek in US specifications. The USDM reveal comes five months after the crossover's third generation was shown off in Japan last year. The US received a new Sport trim with distinctive styling elements. The sport trim is similar to the Impreza 2.5 RS, which brought back a classic nameplate for the new generation and is based on the Subaru Impreza Hatchback. The Crosstrek Sport, however, is not as impressive as we might have hoped, just like that 2.5 RS revival.
The US Crosstrek is powered by a 2.0-liter Boxer four-cylinder with 145 lb-ft of torque in base trim, whereas the JDM models have a hybrid 2.0-liter e-Boxer engine. A new engine, a 2.5-liter boxer with 182 horsepower and 178 lb-ft of torque, is available in the Sport and Limited trims. A CVT transmission transfers power to all four corners. There is no manual, but there is a manual mode on the Premium, Sport, and Limited trims. Ground clearance is 8.7 inches in all models.
It has a new front fascia with a full-width logo bar that leads to compact LED headlights. On the new Sport trim, the new grille is finished in matte black and features intricate 3D hexagonal patterns. The yellow accents on the front and rear bumpers, side skirts, and yellow Sport badges distinguish this trim. Additionally, rather than the 17-inch wheels found on the Base and Premium trims, it has 18-inch black alloy wheels.
The centerpiece of the interior is a portrait-oriented 11.6-inch touchscreen infotainment system, which is standard on higher models and replaces the base car's seven-inch screen. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto features are standard on both screens. The Crosstrek can go wherever you need it to go thanks to its tough materials and the new seats, which are said to be more supportive. With up to 54.7 cubic feet of cargo space when the rear seats are folded, it is also more practical than before.
The torsional rigidity of the Subaru Global Platform has increased by 10% compared to the previous model. This not only improves the vehicle's handling dynamics but also makes it safer. EyeSight Driver Assist technology, which has been updated and now works faster and smoother than ever in a wider range of conditions, further enhances safety. It receives updated software and a larger field of view from the new wide-field cameras. Additionally, the front-facing camera is more effective at spotting cyclists and pedestrians.
There will be four trim levels: Base Premium, Sport, and Limited. The base model costs $24,995, which is the same as the previous model.
The new Crosstrek, in contrast to earlier models, will be manufactured in the United States. Subaru's Lafayette, Indiana, facility will manufacture models with 2.5-liter engines. In the spring, the Base and Premium trims will continue to be manufactured in Japan. In the summer, dealers will receive the models made in the US.
