Americans make up more than 70% of SR10 buyers, and now they can get something even more extreme.
The most recent creation by Radical Motorsport has been revealed: the SR10 XXR from Radical. The SR3 XXR, released in December of last year, is the most extreme variant of any Radical model to receive this treatment. This time, Radical's fastest-selling model has been given the XXR suffix, with improvements focusing on lightweighting and aerodynamic prowess.
The 2.3-liter turbocharged EcoBoost engine, which is identical to the one found in a Ford Mustang but tuned to produce 425 horsepower and 380 lb-ft of torque for Radical's application, has not changed. A six-speed transaxle gearbox inspired by the Hewland GT3 and derived from Formula 2 racing is used to transfer power to the rear axle. 0–60 mph takes less than 2.4 seconds for a vehicle weighing less than 1,600 pounds.
The Radical SR10 XXR now has a central fin in the style of an LMP aft of the driver. New louvers on the front end reduce understeer at high speeds and improve cooling. Weighty alloy wheels help with handling and ride quality because they reduce unsprung mass. Additionally, a brand-new LED DRL design is now standard. A carbon splitter and diffuser package is an option for customers who want their SR10 XXR to look better and be lighter.
Production will begin this spring, and orders have already begun
"Out-run and out-maneuver the competition while remaining easy to drive and cost-effective to run," Radical says, is the goal of the SR10 XXR. However, Radical will permit owners of the standard Radical SR10 to upgrade to the XXR specification rather than merely restricting that capability to new purchasers.
The front clamshell, new wheels, cooling vents, and revised rear aero are all included in the XXR Evolution Pack. Additionally, it can be equipped with or without carbon options. In both standard XXR and XXR Evolution Pack forms, owners who are competing in the international Radical Cup championships are eligible to compete in the Platinum classes.
The SR10 has been a huge success ever since it was introduced in 2020, particularly with buyers in the United States. According to Radical, the United States has received 70% of the more than 100 orders.
According to Radical Motorsport CEO Joe Anwyll, "The SR10 range has continued to push the boundaries of modern engineering capabilities with the same pure Radical driving experience." "We've worked hard to select the best XXR model line upgrades and incorporate them into our best-selling model, the SR10, our fastest-selling model ever and a favorite among US customers in particular."
This year, Radical will release more vehicles, with the upcoming Project 25 previously hinted at as an 850-horsepower twin-turbo V6 track weapon.
