Could this be the design of the first electric Z?
Nissan released a teaser image of a brand-new sports car concept early last week. The Nissan Max-Out all-electric convertible concept is here to greet you. If the Max-Out looks familiar, that's because it was first shown in 2021 alongside three other original EV designs. However, in contrast to the previous display, which took place two years ago, this one features a real car rather than a rendering.
According to Nissan, the Max-Out is a sports car with two seats that is made to give drivers "a liberating sense of openness while offering an enhanced, dynamic driving experience." Its purpose is to demonstrate to the general public that Nissan is currently developing a wide range of striking electric vehicles for the future.
Nissan Futures, an event that will take place at Nissan's Global Headquarters Gallery from February 4 to March 1, is kicked off by this concept reveal. Nissan will host customer events, expert panel discussions, and a variety of displays over the course of this month-long event to show off the future of sustainable mobility, innovative design, innovations in electrification, vehicle intelligence, power management, battery reuse, and more.
Sadly, aside from design elements, there is very little specific information about the Max-Out. The car has a decidedly futuristic appearance, but it also has a lot of retro design, like lights that are inspired by the 1980s. The wheels and taillights are especially cool, creating the same sweet infinity effect as a lamp from Spenser's Gifts. We think the design reminds us a little bit of a Dodge Challenger, but it would be a great replacement for the current Nissan Z. Inside, the car has a large screen that covers the entire dashboard and a steering wheel that looks like a yoke, like a Tesla. Given that this is merely a concept that will never be driven in the rain, if it moves at all, there is no evidence of a removable roof.
The Max-Out Concept is not planned for production in its current state, in case that wasn't clear from looking at it. If a sufficient number of people approve of the design, we might see elements of this idea in subsequent models, possibly even in an all-electric sports car.
