Numerous improvements have been made to the AMG 53 and 63 S.

For the upcoming model year, Mercedes-AMG has updated the 2024 GLE SUV and GLE Coupe with new front-end styling, new wheels and paint options, upgraded standard features, better suspension software, and improved performance for the GLE 53. Let's begin with the design.

The new front fascia of the 53 models has slick side air intakes that were inspired by jet-wing designs and are meant to make them look more like the 63 S models. The AMG logo is now also on the hood, a design feature that will be present on all future AMG vehicles. You'll find brand-new LED taillights in the back. Twilight Blue Metallic and Manufacture Alpine Grey are two new paint colors available to buyers. New 22-inch forged wheels with a stylish twin-twin-spoke design are now standard equipment on the GLE 63 S Coupe. The styling changes made to the GLE 63 S SUV are generally less obvious.

Although AMG added two new leather upholstery colors, Bahia Brown/Black and Macchiato Beige/Black, the interior has largely remained the same as last year. Manufactur Piano Black Flowing Lines Trim and High-Gloss Brown Linden Trim are also available.More importantly, the most recent version of the MBUX infotainment system, which features an AMG-specific screen design, is available for both GLE AMGs.

Additionally, the number of standard pieces of equipment has significantly increased. The MBUX Augmented Reality for Navigation, Memory, and Parking Assistance Packages, the selectable AMG Performance exhaust system, and leather upholstery with heated and ventilated front seats are some of these features for the GLE 53 models. Standard features include a Burmester surround sound system, heated front seats, adaptive highbeam assist, and an electric panoramic sliding sunroof.

Customers will receive a standard AMG Performance steering wheel with round drive unit buttons, regardless of body style or model. These buttons are quick and simple to use, allowing drivers to access the driving modes without taking their hands off the wheel. Interestingly, a heated steering wheel is an option, and if you prefer, you can get one with a carbon fiber design.

GLE 63 S owners will receive the now-standard Air Balance Package, which adds multi-contour front seats and a head-up display to the vehicle. The MBUX Interior Assistant and logo projector, a handy system with a distinctive brand animation that works when the front doors are opened, are also standard.

The 3.0-liter inline-six engine that produces 429 horsepower remains in the 53 models, but a software update and a larger turbocharger have increased torque from 384 lb-ft to 413 lb-ft. Instead of taking 5.2 seconds, 0–60 mph now takes 4.9 seconds. The engine in the 63 S is also the same as before: that lovely, hand-built, 603-horsepower 4.0-liter bi-turbo V8. From 0 to 60 takes just 3.7 seconds.

To enhance the ESP, electronically controlled rear-axle limited-slip diff, 4MATIC+ all-wheel drive, and suspension control systems, some software fine tuning was performed. A 48-volt Integrated Starter Generator (ISG), which transforms the starter and alternator into a single electric motor between the engine and nine-speed automatic gearbox, still partially electrifies both engines. In addition, the ISG gives the 53 S and 63 S an additional 21 horsepower, 148 lb-ft of torque, and 184 lb-ft of twist, respectively. The 53 has a top speed of 155 mph, according to AMG, while the 63 S has a top speed of 174 mph.

This year, dealerships in the United States will receive the 2024 Mercedes-AMG 53 and 63 S SUVs and Coupes. Pricing has not yet been disclosed.
