The 2019 parliamentary primaries of the National Democratic Congress will not include any competition for North Tongu's representative, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa.
This was discovered when the NDC legislator chose all of the nomination papers to run in the constituency's parliamentary primary.
Although expressing his happiness at the result, Mr. Ablakwa said that the lack of a rival would not lead him to become comfortable and that he would continue to fight for the interests of his constituency.
The MP stated, "We are running unopposed in the North Tongue NDC Parliamentary Primaries," in a tweet on Sunday. A further motivation to better, stronger, tougher, and more creatively serve my cherished constituents.
As you are well aware, I never take your support for granted, and I never will. praise be God. Both the presidential and legislative primaries will take place on May 13, 2023, according to the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
The party will elect its flagbearer for the general election of 2024 as well as its parliamentary candidates in each of the 275 electoral districts in this respect.
Fifi Fiavi Kwetey, the NDC's general secretary, made this declaration on January 18, 2023, at the party's headquarters.
Several party supporters have so far indicated a wish to run in the primary elections in their respective seats.
The party states that parliamentary candidates must choose a form and pay a non-refundable filing fee of GHS 40,000.00.
In the meantime, NDC supporters in the North Tongue Constituency have issued a warning, saying that they will not take it lightly if the state harms the constituency's MP.
The constituents claim in a forceful statement released on February 10 that they have seen how the MP, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, is being jeered in his attempt to hold the administration responsible.
Those from the offended party claim that the government's "penchant for attacking everyone who exhibits an aversion towards corruption" is evidenced by the attempts to stop Ablakwa from legally carrying out his duties.
