the same amount of power as the M4 CSL, plus a titanium rear silencer and other features. The unveiling of the 2024 M3 CS by BMW is a great way to get the year 2023 off to a great start, following a remarkable lineup of exciting new models in 2022.
These are the fundamentals: The most exciting M3 to date has more power, a retuned chassis, and less weight. The S58's 3.0-liter twin-turbo straight-six has been increased to 543 horsepower, which is the same as the M4 CSL's limited-edition output. However, while that vehicle only sends power to the rear axle, this one's M xDrive AWD system also sends some power to the front.
The M3 CS accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in just 3.2 seconds, and the M Driver's Package is standard, allowing it to reach a respectable 188 mph top speed.
The electronic control unit (ECU) has been retuned in order to achieve these remarkable numbers. Additionally, the maximum boost pressure of the two mono-scroll turbochargers has been increased from 24.7 to 30.5 psi, which is the same boost that the M4 CSL uses. From 6,250 rpm to the redline at 7,200 rpm, maximum power is available. The 479 lb-ft of torque is available between 2,750 and 5,950 rpm, providing a wide and usable torque band that can be used for both track driving and highway driving.
While we are in the engine bay, it is important to note that BMW claims to have included specially designed mounts that provide "an extremely rigid connection between the engine and the vehicle's structure."
The AWD has three modes, as do other cars with M xDrive: 2WD, 4WD, and 4WD Sport 2WD, which is activated when the Dynamic Stability Control system is turned off completely, effectively disconnecting the front axle from the rest of the drivetrain. 4WD Sport sends even more power to the rear axle. If you get our meaning, this makes "pure high-performance driving" possible.
According to BMW, the CS is designed to perform equally well on the road and the track. As a result, the company has updated the chassis settings to include anti-roll bars, dampers, and specially tuned axle kinematics. The oil cooling and supply frameworks for the motor and the eight-speed programmed transmission's multi-plate grip have been modified to adapt to expanded excursions on the circuit as well. Finally, the electromechanical steering system and the electronically controlled dampers of the adaptive suspension system have been tailored specifically for the CS.
For the front and rear, you get forged M light-alloy 827M 19-inch wheels with free Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires as standard. M Compound brakes with red or black calipers are standard on these wheels, which can be finished in gold, bronze, or matte black. M Carbon Ceramic brakes in either red or gold are available as an option.
When compared to a standard AWD M3 Competition, the extensive use of carbon fiber and a titanium rear silencer that saves more than eight pounds contribute to a total weight savings of approximately 75 pounds.
The hood, massive front splitter, front air intakes, wing mirror caps, rear diffuser, and trunk spoiler are additional carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP) components that are added to the CS in addition to the carbon roof that is standard on the regular M3. The interior trim steps, shift paddles, and center console are all covered in the material. M Carbon bucket seats are also standard, and model-specific treadplates in the door sills serve as reminders that this is a unique vehicle.
BMW's new red-outlined badges on the fenders, trunk, and front grille—the latter of which also features a striking touch of rouge lipstick—are additional highlights for the CS. By employing a design that is very similar to that of the M4 CSL and has significantly fewer horizontal strakes than you would find in a standard M3 or M4, that grille draws attention to its connection to the M4 CSL. Similar to the CSL and M5 CS, yellow headlights reappear.
The red accents in both rows of the black Merino leather-upholstered seats serve as yet another reminder that you are in a limited edition. The M Alcantara steering wheel with its red center marker and the CS logo in the center console should emphasize the performance focus of the most recent M3.
You can choose matte black wheels, the grippy Cup 2 tires, M Carbon Ceramic brakes, or exterior paint from the options. The standard metallic colors are Brooklyn Grey and Black Sapphire, while the BMW Individual Frozen Solid White Metallic (exclusive to the M3 CS) and BMW Individual Signal Green will set you back more.
Regarding pricing, the 2024 BMW M3 CS's base MSRP is $118,700, with a $995 destination and handling fee. This is a limited-edition product because only one year of production in the United States will begin in March 2023.
By the time the M3 CS hits dealer floors, we anticipate that the M4 CS, which is the M3 Club Sport's sibling, will also be made public.
