Frank Annoh-Dompreh, the majority chief whip and member of parliament (MP) for the Nsawam Adoagyiri Constituency in the Eastern Region, has recognized 76 pupils from 10 elementary schools in his district for their achievements in the Basic Education Certificate Examination from the previous year (BECE).
The pupils, who attend basic schools that are both public and private, received computers, scientific calculators, dictionaries, mattresses, and an unknown sum of money.
Four of the recipients received nine ones, 11 received eight ones, 21 got seven ones, and 41 got six ones.
37 of them received computers, dictionaries, scientific calculators, and an unknown sum of money, while 39 others also received student beds, calculators, and money.
The ceremony for the MP's Best Performing BECE Award, which was established in 2013, has as its topic "Prioritizing Education, Impacting Lives, and Changing the Narrative."
The MP took the initiative to raise BECE scores in the district in cooperation with the Nsawam-Adoagyiri Municipal Assembly and the Municipal Education Directorate.
Nancy Aloba Bonsu, a student of the Rev. Father Wiegers JHS who won the MP's Special Award, has also been nominated for the President's Best Performing Students Award, which will be presented on March 6, 2023, in honor of Independence Day.
All of the pupils were accepted into different senior high schools around the nation.
After he was elected as the local MP, Mr. Annor-Dompreh stated that he became aware that the BECE results in the basic schools weren't the best.
He said that he had to set up holiday lessons for the students and that doing so had been successful, with the kids excelling in the majority of the topics.
He said that the students did not disappoint him because their BECE scores were the highest in the Eastern Area, and he gave the recipients advice on how to effectively use the supplies and money provided to them to raise their academic standing.
Education
Samuel Otopa-Ntow, the director of education for the Nsawam Adoagyiri Municipality, praised the MP for having the foresight to equip the youngsters in the district with a top-notch education and emphasized that it was the best legacy to leave them.
The aim of the MP, according to the Chief of Ntoaso Traditional Area, Nii Dr. Okpoti Akrong II, was not only to recognize students who performed well at the BECE but also to encourage them to continue their studies.
