The letter threatening Lionel Messi left after the explosion of his wife's supermarket
Lionel Messi has left a threatening letter to the soccer star after a store owned by his wife was attacked in Argentina.
The Associated Press reported via Fox Sports that two gunmen opened fire at a Unico supermarket in Rosario, according to local police.
The supermarket is owned by the parents of Antonella Roccuzzo, Messi's wife, with whom he has been in a relationship since 2008.
The police report said at least two dozen shots were fired at the store, but more worrying was a letter left for the soccer star.
The note says:
“Messi, we are waiting for you. Javkin is also a drug dealer so he won't deal with you.
Pablo Javkin is the mayor of Rosario, Argentina's third largest city.
It is not clear why the PSG star or his family was the target of the attack.
He is one of Argentina's most beloved figures, especially after leading his country to victory at the World Cup.
An investigation is ongoing into the incident.
Javkin spoke to reporters about the increase in violence in the city following Thursday's incident (March 2). He expressed frustration with local authorities and the lack of police as crime is increasingly common.
In a radio interview, he suspected complicity in the attack on federal security officials, according to Fox Sports.
I said:
"I doubt everyone, even those who are supposed to protect us."
He asks:
“Where are the people who have to take care of us?
"Obviously people with guns and the ability to investigate crimes don't, and it's very easy for any gang to do something similar."

Celia Arena, the justice minister of the province of Sante Fe, said the attack was used to intimidate the public by targeting such a famous figure.
She wrote on social media:
"The goal is to deliberately sow terror among the population and discourage those of us who fight against criminal violence, knowing that this will be an event of global significance."
Argentina will play two friendlies later this month, where Messi can return to his homeland to play for the national team.
