According to Dr. Thomas Anaba, a former medical director at Ridge Hospital, the nation's vaccination shortfall poses a serious threat to the well-being of our children.
The Ghana Health Service (GHS) has reported a vaccine shortfall and stated that the country's vaccine supply issues will be resolved over the next three weeks.
The Director General of the GHS, Dr. Kumah Aboagye, claimed in a statement to Ultimate News that his organisation was unable to get BCG, Measles, and Polio vaccinations due to exchange rate pressures that sent the dollar prices for the medicines up the ceiling.
The previous Medical Director said that the repercussions of not providing immunizations for our children are severe when discussing this vaccine shortage on Starr Today.
Children are particularly susceptible to TB because of their compromised immune systems. Children will get TB without vaccination, which will damage their lungs, spines, and other organs. If there are no TB vaccinations, we should be prepared for the saddest scenario possible.
We are all familiar with polio. It is extremely destructive and will permanently paralyze or cripple you. Hence, without the vaccination, which requires only a drop in the mouth, our kids are in great danger of contracting the poliovirus, which will make them polarized and render them incapable of working in the future, and they are unable to conduct themselves as they would expect a typical individual to.
Ghana is experiencing a measles outbreak, with children and even adults being affected.
That will help some people, but what if a child gets an illness like TB today and the vaccinations won't be available for another month or two?
The child's TB complication is irreversible. When a youngster nowadays has polio, his neurological system is harmed, and he begins to limp or become paralysed.
"That youngster won't be saved once again when the vaccination is available in a month or two. A youngster who has TB today and suffers from lung disease, issues with the spine, paralysis, or vertebral injury will always be disfigured. Unless the vaccination is administered and we fail to record anything, it does provide a bleak image.
