Over the years Ghanaians have always wondered why Nigerian music has been topping most of the music platforms for the African category! Ghanaian music has also made its mark in Africa but it’s not as compared to Nigerian music. Ghana has provided superstars like Sarkodie, Shatta wale, Stonebwoy, Camidoh, Gyakie and many more. Just a few of them have made it to get a BET award. But Nigerians like Burna boy, Wizkid and Tems have been able to get a Grammy award and that is what most Ghanaians dream about! The thing about Nigerian music is that they have the craft to engineer something that the whole world would love to hear. But Ghanaian music is centered towards Ghana itself and not to attract the ears of people around the world. Some say it’s because of the money they make when Ghanaians listen to it because they understand better. The fear is when the music go out to the world what if it doesn’t blow or Ghanaians don’t fully understand the song or even like it since it has been made for people outside to like and attract some Grammy award! Ghanaians now have some rising superstars like Djay and Camidoh whom I think can be able to make it to the top stage that is getting a Grammy. Oh let’s not forget about the killa man(Black sherif) who has been a monster in the music industry for the past 3 years. I think we can also do more as Ghanaians if we push more of our songs for people outside to listen to and promote them. So we get enough exposure outside. Ghanaian artiste shouldn’t always complain about Ghanaians always listening to Nigerian songs because the truth of the matter is that most good Nigerian artiste have the craft of making excellent songs. Ghanaian artistes, just a few are good and some are getting there!
